  -  An 8yr. old boy was recently brought in due to chronic ear infections and strep throat. His mother, being a patient of Dr. Barthen's, thought chiropractic care might be the solution. This young boy would have either an ear infection or strep throat just about every month, and his mother complained that he just never seemed to get better. After he would finish his prescribed antibiotics, he would be sick again a week or two later. After a thorough examination from Dr. Barthen, there were some noticeable subluxations in his neck and upper back. Having these subluxations created a weakened immune system, which made it easy to develop these conditions. Dr. Barthen suggested he come in weekly for some adjustments, and that he start taking a probiotic supplement to boost the immune system. Correcting the subluxations in his neck and upper back, along with taking the probiotic has made such a difference. It has been 3 months since he has been sick, and his mom reports that he seems happier and much more active. He now comes in monthly for maintenance to keep his immune system strong.

 -  A patient of Dr. Barthen's came in describing some heart abnormalities she had been experiencing for the past few weeks. After seeing several physicians and cardiologists, she was told it was due to stress and was prescribed an anti-anxiety medication. Feeling no stress, she decided to try chiropractic care. Her heart rate before the adjustment was 122 beats per minute. Immediately after having her neck adjusted, her heart rate dropped to 96 beats per minute. After her second adjustment that week, all the symptoms were gone.

 -  A four month old patient had seen his pediatrician and gastroenterologist for a problem with chronic constipation. He had some tests done at two local hospitals to check for intestinal blockages, and no one could find the source of the problem. His parents decided to take him to Dr. Barthen for an exam, which concluded major subluxations in his neck and back. The birthing process can be very traumatic on an infant's spine and the vertebrae can go out of alignment due to the stretching and compressing of the body as it enters the world. If the delivery involved a prolonged pushing stage, forceps, vacuum extraction, or other forms of assisted delivery, the chances of misalignment are great. Within 24 hours of the baby's first adjustment, he was regular again and had a visable change in his demeanor and mood.

" Don't stop going just because you feel better. Things we do that we think are not putting stress on our joints, spine, etc, are. So it's important that once you feel really great, you keep up with maintaining that."
